Music on Friday is fantastic and free
The Blackheath Conservatoire was founded nearly 150 years ago by local residents, and with the adjacent Blackheath Halls, forms part of the oldest arts complex
in London.
With a beautiful Victorian art studio, well-equipped musical classrooms, and of course, wonderful tutors, who are also practising professionals, their mission is to be the home of creativity for people in South-east London, of all abilities and backgrounds, seeking excellent learning in music, art and drama – providing a safe, vibrant and welcoming space to inspire and nurture a community of life-long learners.
Free on Friday concerts showcase a selection of music teachers, with all donations going straight to the performers.
Audiences are in for a treat with Elliott Morris, always a crowd-pleaser on guitar and vocals, and a selection of fabulous classical string concerts – The Swan Ensemble (two violins, two violas and a cello); Irina Vaskovskaya (cello) and Chiara Naldi on piano; and Alex Ferkey on double bass.
If you haven’t yet visited this creative hub in the heart of Blackheath village, come along and check out what you are missing.
In addition to events, such as concerts, exhibitions and family sessions, they have group courses in art, music and drama, and an extensive range of individual tuition, where you could be taught by one of their concert performers.
