New playground for toddlers opens in Greenwich

A new toddler playground has been opened in Southern Park on the Greenwich Peninsula.

Residents created it together with a grant from the Greenwich Neighbourhood Growth Fund,  and The Conservation Volunteers, funded by the Greenwich Millennium Village.

The playground includes swings, springers and a fabulous new climbing frame.

Already popular with local residents and the local playgroup, this provides a safe and enclosed play space for local children, with very few other play spaces available as yet on the Peninsula.

The park is owned by the Land Trust and managed by TCV – the Conservation Volunteers – who also manage the neighbouring Ecology Park.

The village’s annual Frog Day at the Ecology Park is back after a two year absence due to Covid19, celebrating all things froggy at the time of year when they breed and lay frogspawn – Sunday March 27.

Activities include pond dipping, bug hunting, interactive froggy quiz trails, Good Pond Bad Pond workshop, frog themed art and a pop up cafe.

  • They keep putting down that plastic-derivative flooring and when it cracks scores of worms come up suffocated and dying all over the place, it’s horrible and really bad for the environment.
