‘Fearless ability’ – Addicks captain George Dobson praises youngster
Charlton Athletic captain George Dobson says young midfielder Karoy Anderson has a “fearless ability”.
The 18-year-old has featured heavily under Addicks boss Dean Holden during pre-season, starting against Leyton Orient, Dartford, Gillingham and Millwall in the build-up to the 2023-24 League One campaign.
He also featured in the 5-0 win over National League side Wealdstone, scoring the final goal in the 87th minute.
Anderson scored the opening goal in Tuesday night’s 2-2 draw with local rivals Millwall.
“He’s an absolute breath of fresh air,” Dobson told the South London Press.
“His ability – that fearless ability to be able to take players on, to run with the ball, to get box to box, and he’s shown the ability to score goals as well, which is the best knack to have as a number eight.
“He’s been brilliant to work with. I have been speaking with him a lot, trying to keep him confident, but he doesn’t need it – he’s a really confident boy and trusts his own ability.
“He’s grounded as well, so I feel like he’s in a really good place and I’m really enjoying playing with him at the moment.”
