Fulham player ratings from EFL Cup win against Tottenham –  Robinson impresses as Cottagers progress to the third round

Fulham had a night to remember in the Carabao Cup as they beat Tottenham 5-3 on penalties following a 1-1 draw in their second-round tie.

Marco Silva’s side were deservedly 1-0 up at the break through a Micky Van de Ven own goal but were pegged back in the second half by a Richarlison header.

Here are Dan Evans’ player ratings from Craven Cottage.

Marek Rodak – 6

Rarely called into action throughout the 90 minutes but did make a straightforward stop from a deflected Richarlison shot not long before the Brazilian equalised and did brilliantly to get his fingertips to a late effort from former team-mate Solomon. Not a lot he could have done about the goal. Read Davinson Sanchez well to make the only save of the shootout.

Kenny Tete – 5

Was playing well up until he ran back to the dressing room to find a new boot in the 55^th minute. Perhaps he would have been punished by the referee if he had stopped and made someone else collect it for him based on the new time-wasting protocols, but his absence allowed Perisic space to cross for the Tottenham equaliser. Tried a wild shot from all of 30 yards to make amends and sliced well wide. Redeemed himself with the winning penalty.

Tim Ream – 6

A composed return to the team for the centre-back, keeping Richarlison at bay for much of the game. Crucially lost the striker for the Tottenham goal though and some of his passing was loose at times.

Issa Diop – 6

Came out on top in a couple of physical battles with Richarlison but was another who was rarely troubled throughout. Spurs’ insistence on keeping possession rather than playing balls into the box meant there were few headers for him to win.

Antonee Robinson – 8

Was exceptional in the first half, picking off Tottenham passes and marauding forward almost at will. Provided more than one excellent cross that would have been lapped up by Mitrovic last season. Faded in an attacking sense after the break but still applied himself well defensively.

Harrison Reed – 7

Instrumental in Fulham’s excellent first half, popping up all over the pitch to provide a passing option for a team-mate and win back possession whenever it was lost. His run into the box forced Van de Ven to turn into his own net. Another victim of Spurs’ improved showing after the break as his influence waned. Taken off in the final 15 minutes and Fulham got better thanks to the fresh legs.

Joao Palhinha – 6

Typically destructive when Tottenham had the ball but was sloppy in possession on more than one occasion. Held the fort well when his regular partner Reed was replaced but will feel he wasn’t able to provide the necessary control in the second half to help Fulham see the game out.

Adama Traore – 5

This was the full Adama Traore experience for Fulham fans. Looked lively throughout and seemed as though he could have given the ageing legs of Spurs’ captain Ben Davies a long night but never delivered on the promise. Plenty of fun to watch but only provided one quality cross that forced Forster into a save from Muniz. Taken off on the hour mark after an ineffective start to the second half.

Tom Cairney – 7

Another who was excellent in the first half but faded badly after the interval. Instrumental in the opening goal as he twisted Davinson Sanchez inside out before seeing his cross turned in by Micky Van de Ven. Looked to be forced off with an injury in the second half that will surely be a source of frustration for Silva.

Bobby De Cordova-Reid – 6

Linked well with Robinson down the left in the first half but should have done more to close down the Perisic cross that Spurs equalised from. Was given a much-deserved rest in the final 15 minutes as he was replaced by Pereira.

Rodrigo Muniz – 4

Had three presentable chances in the first half that could extended Fulham’s lead and taken the game away from Spurs but failed to take any of them. Was a willing runner and put himself about but he will surely need to start scoring chances like these if he is to establish himself as Silva’s first-choice striker ahead of Jimenez and Vinicius. Replaced by the Mexican forward in the closing stages.

Harry Wilson – 7

A bright cameo from the Welshman. Showed a lot more guile than Traore down the right and was unlucky not to notch a winner in normal time after seeing a stabbed effort saved by Forster.

Andreas Pereira – 6

Was busy and provided plenty of energy to help Fulham wrestle back some control in midfield.

Luke Harris – 6

Similarly energetic in the closing stages and prevented Spurs from gaining too much control.

Tyrece Francois – NA
