Kevin Nisbet’s Millwall transfer is off

Millwall’s move for Hibernian striker Kevin Nisbet is off.

The Lions had agreed the terms on a deal for the Scottish international, who travelled down to South London to complete a medical.

But the South London Press has been told the switch is not going to be completed, with Nisbet deciding against the transfer.

Nisbet had returned from an ACL injury in December, which had sidelined him for 10 months, and has scored seven goals in as many matches since.

Millwall will now need to readjust their sights as they look to do business before Tuesday’s transfer window deadline.

The Championship side want to bring in another forward after the exits this month of Benik Afobe and Isaac Olaofe.

Hibs head coach Lee Johnson had earlier confirmed that deals were in the pipeline for Nisbet and centre-back Ryan Porteous, who had previously been a target for Millwall but now looks set to join Watford.

“Neither transfer is done but they are not here in the building,” said Johnson. “I couldn’t give you an answer at 12:30 on a Friday if they will be available for selection.

“They will be a big loss given they are two quality players under very different circumstances in each transfer.

“Sometimes it’s difficult to stand in the guys’ ways. In the case of Nisbet we end up commanding a very strong fee that we could reinvest.”
