Writer and broadcaster Michael Rosen to speak at St Christopher’s Hospice’s one day conference
A famous writer and broadcaster is set to speak at a conference exploring how to face death creatively.
Michael Rosen, who has written more than 140 books for children and adults, will be the keynote speaker at St Christopher’s Hospice’s one day conference.
Through a mix of seminars, exhibitions, performances and workshops, the event will provide attendees with an opportunity to reflect upon and share the many important ways in which creative arts play an important role surrounding death, dying and loss generally.
It will focus specifically on the innovative ways the arts have provided support during the pandemic.
After the death of his 18-year-old son Eddie in 1999, Mr Rosen turned to writing to help process the challenging environment he found himself in.
He later published his most recognisable and touching work Sad Book.
More recently, having been discharged from hospital mid-way through 2020, Michael picked up a pen and wrote extensively about his experience, praising the incredible care he received from the NHS.
Despite suffering with the effects of long Covid, including a foggy eye, deaf ear and ongoing dizziness, Mr Rosen published his work, Many Different Kinds of Love, earlier this year.
Mr Rosen, as keynote speaker, will host a session at the conference on November 12, sharing anecdotes and wisdom from his personal life with his trademark sense of heartfelt, relatable and gentle humour.
