Food & Drink: Go on, go meat-less at the barbecue

BY PALOMA LACY

We’re still allowed to sit in our gardens so if you haven’t done so already, now’s the time to dust off the barbecue.

Barbecuing doesn’t necessarily mean a visit to a butcher and it may well just be time to take a leaf out of the rising number of vegans’ book and go plant based.

Meatless Farm has some mouth-wateringly fine products grill-ready.

Its burgers are made from pea protein and chicory root and really do taste as good as their meatier alternative but are healthier and still deliver a good source of protein.

What about making your own burgers with meat-free mince so you can add seasoning of your choice?

There are also some juicy bangers in the range, too. Available in all major supermarkets.

Meatless Farm is encouraging every household in the UK to swap to eating one more plant-based meal per week by next year.

Making the simple swap from red meat to plant-based once a week would cut the UK’s greenhouse gas emissions by 50million tonnes, equivalent to reducing the UK’s total greenhouse gas emissions by 8.4 per cent.
