In search of the perfect gift for Father’s Day
So many are worried that Father’s Day 2020 – on June 21 – will look like no other. No dining in at restaurants or pubs for dad and the family, but if you can’t take him out during lockdown, bring his favourite things to him.
A good place to start is Pub In A Box from Walthamstow brewery Signature Brew.
Beer, glass, snacks, music quiz, playlist and beer mat covers all bases and is what you might call the ultimate dad’s care package. The perfect Father’s Day gift comes in at £25.
Whether he’s a man with taste buds for lager, IPA or porter – all craft beer is here.
Accompanying beer snacks are included in crisp and peanut form. Signature Brew is open for collections Monday to Friday, 10am until 4pm and from noon until 5pm at weekends. You can also order online at www.signaturebrew.co.uk
And now a nod to a chef who’s happy to do all the hard work for you so you can put your feet up on Father’s Day weekend.
Chef and owner William ‘Archie’ Deal, of Archie’s Food fame, recently launched The Kitchen Supper – a box of delights only available for delivery on Friday and Saturday, including aperitif, starter, main and sides, plus dessert for £35 per person.
Orders should be placed by Wednesday for weekend delivery. We sampled this week’s box: espresso martini, tiger prawns with aioli and home-made bread, lamb rump, cannelloni bean mash, roasted Mediterranean vegetables, herby salad, and chocolate tart.
Menus change weekly and portions serve two. It feels a bit like the private dining experience without the hefty price tag. Hats off to Archie’s Food for diversifying away from a non-existent events sector, instead bringing high-end restaurant-standard food directly to doorsteps across South London at a time when we need comfort food more than ever before.
And it you can’t wait until the weekend to sample Archie’s Food, there’s a range of meals to order online at any time. Check out: https://www.archiesfood.com/
You might be looking for a gift to brighten dad’s day – with a bottle of Jack Daniel’s Gentleman Jack.
Inspired by the original gentleman distiller,
Setting it apart from the rest of the family, Gentleman Jack is mellowed through Jack Daniel’s signature sugar maple charcoal not once, but twice.
It is this second charcoal mellowing that distinguishes it from the rest, creating a well-rounded, easy drinking whiskey with exceptional smoothness.
With balanced flavours of oak, vanilla and caramel, the double-mellowed
Jack Daniel’s Gentleman Jack is best served on the rocks or in a classic Whiskey Sour cocktail – Gentleman’s Sour by Gentleman Jack.

20ml Sugar syrup
A dash of bitters
Cubed ice
Lemon slice garnish
