Shakespeare’s Globe’s latest production of The Merchant of Venice, starring Sophie Melville as Portia and Adrain Schiller as Shylock, has opened at the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse.
Running until April 9, director Abigail Graham and the company are reclaiming Shakespeare’s disturbing tale.
Looking at the story in a contemporary context, the production asks us to confront and question our own prejudices in the here and now.
