Wimbledon’s Polka Theatre kick off Spring 2023 with premiere of Jack v Giant

Wimbledon’s Polka Theatre kick off their Spring 2023 season in their Main Theatre with the premiere of Jack v Giant.

The show is a bold musical reimagining of the classic Jack and the Beanstalk fairy tale brought enchantingly to life with beautiful puppetry, songs and music, for children aged four to eight and their families.

Join Jack, a brave young girl who embarks on a giant adventure when she sells the family cow in return for magic beans.

An unforgettable musical journey follows from underground gold mines, climbing the beanstalk, to a golden castle in the sky in this exciting re-imagining of the classic fairy tale.

Jack v Giant is co-written by Polka’s artistic director, Peter Glanville and Barb Jungr.

It is directed by Roman Stefanski with original puppetry by Keith Frederick.

Designer Laura McEwen returns to Polka, having designed the interior of the new Polka building, which opened in Summer 2021.

The cast is Hannah Akhalu as ‘Jack’ and Henry Regan as ‘Father’.

Peter Glanville said: “Polka are delighted to be producing this new musical inspired by the classic Jack and the Beanstalk story.

“We hope that children and families alike will be entranced by our tale, which takes us beneath the ground to gold mines, through the sky on a beanstalk and into a Giant’s palace in the clouds.”
