African Odessey: Exploring Cultures, Myths and Stories opening at the Oxo gallery August 9

A creative couple are bringing African mythology, culture and folktales to life through art.

Adwoa Botchey and Solomon Adebiyi are a Manchester-based artist duo that have formed a partnership known as Adeche Atelie.

Opening on August 9, Adeche Atelie’s exhibition, African Odessey: Exploring Cultures, Myths and Stories will be shown at the Oxo gallery in Oxo Tower Wharf, Barge House Street in South Bank.

Mr Adebiyi said: “Our exhibition aims to promote local artists and contribute to the local art ecosystem.

“Our mission is to tell stories, to take viewers on a journey, an odyssey, into the heart of Africa’s vibrant mythology and folklore.”

African Odyssey promises an immersive journey that captures the essence of African mythology, culture, and folktales through acrylic paintings, canvas copies, and prints.

A celebration of heritage and a testament to the power of storytelling through art, the duo’s collection of work reflects their curiosity for art and African culture.

Ms Botchey said: “We hope to engage a diverse audience with our work, from art enthusiasts and collectors to families and young minds eager to immerse themselves in rich cultural narratives.”

The exhibition will run until August 13 and is free for the public.
