CEREMONY: A festival of performance takes over Peckham

A year-long series of performances, exhibitions and workshops will come to a head with a jam packed festival of the arts at the end of this month.

CEREMONY: A Festival of Performance, will run from April 23 to 27 at the Copeland Gallery in Copeland Road, Peckham.

Hosting an impressive bill of works, the showcase includes The Trembling Forest, a new live art ballet from seasoned dance artist and Lewisham resident Emilyn Claid in collaboration with Martin O’Brien and Anatomy of performance, a newly commissioned performance lecture by artist Anne Bean.

Elsewhere in the programme visitors will see works from esteemed Belfast live artist Alastair MacLennan, performance artist Marilyn Arsem, who will be flying in from Boston as well as a host of exciting shows from emerging artists.

The week will conclude with BREATHE FEAR IN. BREATHE GOLD OUT, a participatory closing performance from artists in collaboration with Ash McNaughton and Joseph Morgan Schofield, intertwining themes of alienation with intimacy.

Screenings and artistic workshops will also be running throughout the programme.

CEREMONY: A Festival of Performance is presented by Future Ritual and follows sell-out programmes at Whitechapel Gallery and Norfolk and Norwich Festival, the ICA London and Kunstraum Gallery.
