Enjoy an afternoon of jazz for a good cause
Imagine opening the doors of a 19th century church to the smooth, soulful sounds of jazz.
This May, Chislehurst Methodist Hall, in Prince Imperial Road, Chislehurst, will transform into a music venue for an afternoon of blues and jazz in concert for a good cause.
The Bromley Jazz Collective is hosting the charity event on May 18, to raise funds for The Society for the Protection of Animals Abroad (SPANA).
On the bill for the day is John’s Blues Busters, followed by a two-hour set performed by the Bromley Jazz Collective.
Their performance will include a mix of classic jazz standards such as April in Paris, Summertime, Sweet Georgia Brown, and Autumn Leaves.
All profits from the concert will support SPANA’s vital work improving the welfare of working animals, including horses, donkeys, camels, mules, oxen and dogs.
The charity provides expert veterinary care, trains working animal owners in best care and teaches children about animal welfare.
Alexandra Murrell, based in Southwark, is working alongside the Bromley Jazz Collective to organise the event.
She said: “The concert is an opportunity to enjoy an afternoon of jazz music while raising money for a fantastic cause.
“I’ve supported SPANA for several years. Working animals are the unsung heroes of their communities, carrying water and helping people earn a livelihood.
“They deserve a life free from suffering. What’s more, when you help a working animal, you’re also helping the entire family who depends on them.”
Tickets can be purchased via Eventbrite
