Exhibition: Sound & Cinema: Past, Present & Future at The Cinema Museum in Kennington
A free exhibition and events series spanning film, virtual reality, games, TV and sound will give a flavour of the kind of exhibits which have made the Cinema Museum a Mecca for movie lovers.
Opening on January 22, at the London College of Communication, Elephant & Castle, presents Sound & Cinema: Past, Present & Future.
A series of photography celebrating the richness of the Cinema Museum’s collection, the personality of its building and the character of its space, together with its sense of community, purpose and fun, will be shown at an exhibition in Elephant & Castle at a time when the museum is fighting for its survival and under threat of closure.
Discussions as part of the event will feature speakers such as actor, playwright, director and broadcaster Kwame Kwei-Armah OBE; former BBC Chief Creative Officer Pat Younge and BAFTA and RTS Award-winning writer Tahsin Guner.
The discussions will cover topics including diversity and inclusivity in the screen industries, intimacy on set, music videos relating to London and the surprising world of Stanley Kubrick.
The events programme will also feature an evening of audio-visual performances with Points of Entelechy, a live improvised sound performance from Unknown Devices and hands-on workshops exploring virtual reality and immersive experiences.
Lucy Brown, associate dean of London College of Communication’s Screen School said: “We warmly invite the local community and the wider public to join us for a myriad of illuminating, diverse and creative work from films to audio performances to exhibitions, talks with leading experts and VR experiences, all for free.
“Diverse experiences and stories can lead to new opportunities, conversations and ways of engaging beyond factions and across cultures.”
