Northern Ireland Produce Showcase replaced with St Patrick’s Day celebrations at Borough Market
The Northern Ireland produce showcase at Borough Market, scheduled for Wednesday 18th – Saturday 21st March, has unfortunately been postponed by Food Northern Ireland and visiting guest traders until later in the year.
Borough Market will still be celebrating St Patrick’s Day for food lovers with an event taking place on the Saint’s Day itself – complete with Irish dancers and musicians to ensure a truly authentic atmosphere.
Northern Ireland celebrity chef and board director for Slow Food Northern Ireland, Paula McIntyre will be in Borough Market’s glass fronted Market Hall from 1 – 2.30pm cooking up delicious traditional Irish dishes using products available from traders in the Market.
Paula’s recipes will inspire visitors with new ingredients from this special part of the world, who will then be able to take them home (along with the recipes) to rustle up their very own St Patrick’s Day feast.
Paula, along with Borough Market’s resident host Luke Mackay will be demonstrating:
- Grilled loin of mutton ale and honey glaze, whole roast carrots stuffed with quick braised mutton (trimmings) crispy brown butter soda crumbs with parsley, rosemary and wild garlic.
- Whiskey glazed salmon with elderberry caper and chervil, potato cake with pickled scallions, nasturtium and horseradish
- Soda farl ‘steak sandwich’ with grilled leeks and cashel blue
- Date and ginger and stout cake with hazelnut pears
Irish dancers and musicians will be performing in the Market Hall between 11am and 1pm.
The St Patrick’s Day Celebrations at Borough Market will run from 11-2.30pm on Tuesday 17th March 2020.
