What’s On: Battle Educate

Watch fearless young dancers put their best foot forward in a day of dance battles.

Step into Dance and Soul Mavericks present a street dance battle event for young people.

Taking place at Mountview theatre in Peckham on December 14, a group of London’s most exciting young dancers have been training with some of London’s top professionals as part of the Step into Dance programme to be ready for Battle Educate.

This annual celebration of street dance organised by Step into Dance is your chance to experience the thrill of a live battle, and see some of London’s most dedicated young dancers take to the stage in their bid to take home a prize.

This year, guest producers Soul Mavericks have programmed an eclectic mix of workshops, performances and an all-important opportunity for crews and individual dancers to battle it out to be the 2019 winners in hip-hop and breaking, judged by an all-female panel of breakers Roxanne Milliner aka Bgirl Roxy, Vanessa Marina, and Emma Houston aka Bgirl Shortbread.

In addition, there will be prizes for best dancer, most promising dancer and best throwdown.

Audience members will also have an opportunity to watch the judges give a performance and share their experience as dancers, with opportunities to ask questions too.

Battle Educate is organised in a partnership project between the Royal Academy of Dance and the Jack Petchey Foundation.
