Man killed and two rushed to hospital in Kensington car crash

A man has been killed and two others taken to hospital after a car crash in Kensington.

Police were called to Kensington High Street, near the junction with Young Street, at around 8.20pm yesterday to reports of a collision involving a pedestrian and a car.

Officers attended, along with paramedics from the London Ambulance Service (LAS).

Despite the best efforts of the emergency services, the pedestrian, a 37-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

The LAS said it took two further people to hospital after treating them at the scene.

The driver of the car, a 25-year-old man, stopped at the scene and was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving under the influence of a controlled substance.

He has been taken into custody.

Kensington High Street remains closed between Kensington Church Street and Palace Gate due to the ongoing investigation .
