Met confirm man killed in Peckham lorry crash in his 60s

Police have confirmed that the pedestrian killed in a collision with a lorry on Wednesday was a 66-year-old man.

Officers would like to speak to witnesses of the incident that happened in Peckham High Street, Peckham at around 3.30pm.

The driver of the lorry stopped at the scene and no arrests have been made at this point, the Met have confirmed.

A London Ambulance Service (LAS) spokeswoman said: “Sadly, despite the best efforts of our crews, a person died at the scene.”

The victims next of kin have been informed.

The LAS sent an ambulance crew, an advanced paramedic, an incident response officer and a medic in a fast response car to the scene. The service said they also dispatched an air ambulance.

A spokesman from the Met said: “The inquiry is being led by officers from the Met’s serious collision investigation unit.

“Officers would like to speak to anyone who was at the scene, and in particular, anyone who was driving in the area and has dash-cam footage.

“Any witnesses or anyone with any information is asked to call police on 020 8285 1574, or contact via Twitter @MetCC. Please quote reference CAD 4956/23Aug.”
