More detail on Fulham loanee’s late withdrawal from Charlton’s 2-0 win over Barnsley

Steven Sessegnon was a late withdrawal from Charlton’s fixture against Barnsley last weekend due to a knee niggle.

The Fulham loanee was set to start in the 2-0 win against the Tykes. But manager Dean Holden was forced into a late, late change before kick-off with Sean Clare coming into the line-up.

Sessegnon has started 16 League One games for the South London club.

He also missed the fixture at Oxford United in late December due to swelling around his knee.

Holden told the South London Press: “He’s had a previous injury at Fulham from last summer, in his knee. That was conservatively looked after, so there was no operation. He was rested and rehabilitated.

“It’s from that injury that he is having to manage.

“He just felt it swell up in the warm up the other day. He felt a little bit of pain and that he couldn’t start the game.

“It was literally two minutes before the lads were going out for the game, right at the back of the warm up. A bit of a lightning bolt, but we managed to navigate our way through it.”
