14-year-old fatally stabbed in Croydon named

A 14-year-old boy who died of stab wounds at a South London hospital last week has been named as Jermaine Cools, from Croydon.

Police were called to London Road, West Croydon, at around 6:30pm on Thursday, November 18 to reports of a group of people fighting.

When the police arrived, no suspects or victims were found.

At around 7pm police were then called to a South London hospital after Jermaine self-presented at hospital with stab wounds.

He died a short time later.

A port mortem revealed that the cause of death was multiple stab wounds.

His next of kin have been informed and an investigation has been launched.

Detective Chief Inspector Richard Vandenbergh from Specialist Crime who is leading the investigation said that anyone who knew anything about the incident should come forward.

He said: “While our investigation continues to make good progress I am still appealing to anyone who witnessed this fight in the vicinity of West Croydon station on Thursday evening to come forward.

“I am also keen to hear from any road users who may have captured events on dashcam – your footage could prove to be vital in piecing together what happened.

“Jermaine’s family have been left devastated by his murder and we need to identify the person responsible for this; if you can help please get in touch with my team or you can leave information anonymously with Crimestoppers.”
