16 year old boy charged with murder in Wandsworth

A 16 year old boy has been charged with the murder of a 46 year old man who was attacked trying to stop youths stealing his moped.

Brazilian national, Iderval da Silva, was found suffering a head injury on Charlotte Despard Avenue in Battersea on May 25 and was taken to hospital but sadly died in hospital on May 28.

The teenager – who is from Wandsworth – was arrested in connection with the man’s death on Wednesday May 29 and charged on May 30. He will appear at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court today.

Officers also arrested a 19-year-old male on suspicion of murder after he self-presented at a south west London police station on May 30.
