70 firefighters tackle huge blaze at warehouse expected to last ‘some time’

A huge fire broke out earlier today at an industrial warehouse which is expected to last into the afternoon.

Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters are tackling a fire at a warehouse in Horn Lane, Greenwich.

Part of a single-storey warehouse is alight.

London Fire Brigade (LFB) Station Commander Stephen Irvine, who is at the scene, said: “Firefighters are working hard to bring the fire under control.

“This is likely to be a protracted incident, with crews remaining on scene for some time this afternoon.

“There are currently no reports of any injuries.”

The LFB was called at 11.20am. Fire crews from East Greenwich, Deptford, Poplar, Lee Green and surrounding fire stations are at the scene.

The cause of the fire is not known at this time.
