83-year-old pedestrian killed in car accident in Merton

An elderly man has died after being taken to hospital in critical condition following a car accident.

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

A black Mercedes hit the 83-year-old, who was a pedestrian, on Edge Hill Court at around 7pm on Tuesday, November 2.

The man was taken to a South London hospital in a critical condition.

Despite the efforts of medical staff, he died on the afternoon of Wednesday, November 3. His next of kin has been informed.

The driver stopped at the scene and is helping officers with their investigation. There have been no arrests.

Detectives from the Roads and Transport Policing Command are investigating and would like to speak with anyone who saw the collision, or captured it on dash cam.
