Appeal for Savoy Hotel assault victim to come forward

Police investigating an alleged assault outside the Savoy Hotel last December are appealing for the victim to come forward.

They have identified a suspect in the incident and want the man he is alleged to have attacked to get back in touch with them.

Police were called at around 9pm on Sunday, December 30 to the famous hotel in the Strand following reports of a man being assaulted.

All parties were spoken to. The victim, a man, did not wish to make any allegations and declined medical treatment before leaving the area.

CCTV footage later appeared on social media and enquiries into the incident were re-opened.

Officers are now releasing an image of the man they believe to be the victim of the assault and are appealing for him, or anyone who can identify him, to come forward.

It is believed he is around 40 years old and is pictured wearing a distinctive jacket and black hat at the time of the attack.

The suspect is believed to be no longer living in the UK, but police are determined to pursue the matter, with the help of the man pictured.

Sergeant Robert Harris, from the Met’s Central West London, said: “At the time of the incident, the man assaulted did not wish to pursue any allegations and declined any further assistance from emergency services.

“In order to progress our investigation, we need to speak to this man as soon as possible.”

Anyone who can help is urged to get in touch with the police on 101 with reference 6164/30DEC or Crimestoppers anonymously on 020 8345 4181.
