Barrister jailed for 14 months for buying crystal meth from his client

A barrister who once represented former Tory MP Nadine Dorries has been jailed for 14 months after he pleaded guilty to buying crystal meth through one of his clients.

Harry Hendron, 42, of Old Compton Street, Soho, was caught when officers found messages from him on another man’s phone who had been arrested in 2021 on suspicion of selling class-A, B and C drugs.

The man’s phone was forensically examined and messages were found from Hendron asking the man to supply him with drugs.

Hendron had been legally representing the man and asked him to provide crystal meth.

Following an investigation by the Met, further evidence was found from 2020 that showed Hendron was purchasing drugs from another client he was representing. He admitted to buying the “chemsex” drug called GBL.

Hendron was arrested in May last year, he was sentenced today at Woolwich Crown Court after previously pleading guilty to encouraging or assisting an offence and possessing a class-A drug.

Detective Inspector Lewis Sanderson, of the Specialist Crime South, said: “At the time of his arrest Hendron was a serving barrister. The behaviour displayed by Hendron, while acting for the Bar, was unacceptable, unethical and illegal.

“Actions like his can tarnish the reputation of all those involved in the criminal justice system and the whole team were determined to bring him to account.

“As a result of the hard work and thorough investigation, Hendron has been now been made to face the consequences of his actions.”
