Bereaved parents express horror and grief at death of disabled son stabbed in Sydenham on Saturday

The bereaved parents of a disabled teenager have expressed their horror and grief at his killing on Saturday.
Levi Ernest Morrison died at 7.20pm on the pavement of Sydenham Road, Sydenham, yards from his home as horrified bystanders watched paramedics and police try to save him.
His father, Christopher, said on the Sydenham London SE26 Community Facebook page: “My son Levi was stabbed and sadly died on Saturday 10th April. He was a loving, caring young man.
“I will be meeting with Lewisham Borough Police Commander soon, if anyone would like to express any concerns, information they would like me to discuss please contact me. Thank you.”
Christopher added on his own Facebook page: “I don’t post often however I am sharing this devastating news. My son Levi has sadly past away on Saturday 10th April 2021. He was stabbed and killed in Sydenham. Another senseless killing…This narrative needs to STOP!!”
The page was flooded with condolences. Samantha Johnson said: “I’m totally speechless. My heart just sank. Can’t believe he was your son (tear emoji) I can’t even imagine the heartache you’re feeling Chris. Every parent’s worse nightmare. Condolences to you all…xx”
Carol Smith said: “My uttermost condolences to you and the rest of the family. I can’t imagine how you’re feeling but I hope you will be able to remain strong during this sad time. I will be forwarding the info hon. It’s the least I can do along with prayers for your family. May Levi rest in eternal peace.”
Another friend, Patrick Millar, said: “My brother, I am crying tonight as this news breaks my heart. I am so sorry this tragedy has befallen your family. My sincerest condolences to you and your family. This is heartbreaking news. I wish your family strength and peace.”
Levi had an Education Health Care Plan, was autistic and used crutches due to nerve damage which caused drop foot – which his mum Bonnie said made him an easy target. But he had helped to save his neighbour’s life and built a neighbour’s garden.
She was still in shock but had to be strong for her younger children, she said, adding to The Sun: “He was doing construction work and he wanted to build his own house.
“My son was not in a gang and he didn’t even like drill music.
“He was a beautiful boy with a beautiful heart.”
Amongst the bouquet of flowers and the bottles of Blue Calypso lemonade – one of the helium balloons reads: “Forever IN OUR Hearts”.
