Bromley comes out on top as capital’s best borough for recycling
Bromley has been named the capital’s top recycling borough for the second year in a row.
Government statistics, released today by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, show the borough recycled or composted 48.7 per cent of all household waste last year – the equivalent of 58,858 tonnes of waste.
The data also shows the total amount of waste being disposed of in the borough has also declined by 7,500 tonnes, to 121,000 tonnes, down six per cent from the previous year.
Councillor Will Rowlands said: “A big thank you to residents who deserve the plaudits for this success, as without your recycling efforts this achievement would not have been possible.Â
“I also want to thank Veolia and their staff, who make recycling and waste collections in all weathers.”
