Bromley Mayor pays a visit to business for dementia awareness

The Mayor of Bromley paid a visit to a solicitors to raise awareness around dementia on Tuesday Morning.

Thackray Williams LLP, based in London Road, Bromley, hosts monthly community meetings to look at initiatives and share information about how to make Bromley more dementia friendly.

Nima Stepney, co chairwoman and partner at Thackray Williams LLP, said: “Bromley is one of the oldest boroughs in London, so it’s very important for us.

“We invited the Mayor – Councillor Mike Botting – along on this occasion to see our work.

“We showed him the twiddle matts – sensory toys – which are being made and distributed to those living with dementia through dementia cafes and care homes in the borough.

“He’s a very big champion in the community and people love to meet him. He’s great at going round the room and having a chat with everyone.”

At the meeting Ms Stepney said the company discussed future dementia friendly events with the Mayor, including the upcoming dementia action week and an indoor street party being hosted in Crofton Hall on May 22.
