Detectives are now appealing to the public for information and witnesses.

At around 5:40pm, police on patrol found a seriously injured 20-year-old man in Camberwell Church Street, near the junction with Grove Lane.

He was treated at the scene by London’s Air Ambulance before being taken to a South London hospital suffering gunshot wounds and head injuries.

Reports this morning of a cordon set up in the area showed the takeaway shop Falafel and Shawarma in Camberwell Church Street with broken glass with a blue forensics tent directly outside.

A cordon has also been erected in Leontine Close. There are no reports of any other injured person and no arrests have been made.
