Deptford artist made a mask a day for a whole year

Because of masks, we’ve all found it tough to make faces during lockdown – but not Charlie Goodall.

He set himself the challenge of making a mask a day for a year in 2020.

That was before Covid-19 and before the idea that masks would become a part of everyone’s lives for that year and beyond.

Charlie is currently exhibiting them at the SET Studios Gallery in Lewisham, until tomorrow.

There are 366 masks and a new multi-media piece created in collaboration with digital artist Bill Bickerstaff.

This sees thousands of mask images randomly morphing from one face to the next using artificial intelligence technology.

It will run for 366 minutes – one minute for every mask.
