Dog rescued from the tracks after running under a train

A small dog was rescued from the tracks after it ran under a train which was brought to a halt yesterday afternoon.

At around 3pm the dog ran on to the tracks between Eltham and Kidbrooke railway stations and was pictured underneath one of the carriages of the Southeastern service from Dartford to London Victoria.

A response team from Network Rail was sent to the scene in to safely remove the dog.

The team managed to reunite the dog with its owner.

A spokeswoman for Southeastern said: “We became aware of a dog on the tracks between Eltham and Kidbrooke at about 3pm yesterday, which unfortunately had gone into hiding underneath the 14:27 Dartford to London Victoria service.

“Network Rail response teams arrived on site and managed to safely lead the dog away from the tracks, ensuring there was a happy ending, with the dog now reunited with the owner.”
