Family hub launched bringing services for parents and carers under one roof

A new family hub has opened as part of a council’s £4.1million investment into supporting children and young people.

The new hub, at Brookhill Children’s Centre, Brumwell Avenue, Woolwich, run by children’s charity, Home-Start Greenwich, includes a new Café which offers affordable food and advice on eating healthy.

The Brookhill hub is the fourth family hub Greenwich council has opened this year, following launches at Storkway children’s centre, in Ridgebrook Road, Quaggy children’s centre, in Orchard Hill, and Waterways children’s centre, in Southwood Road.

All the hubs are staffed by professionals who can help parents with everything from pregnancy right through to teenagers.

Council services are brought together with charity and social enterprise partners to bring a number of different support services for parents, carers, and children under one roof.

Councillor Matt Morrow, cabinet member for children and young people, said: “There is a huge range of support on offer for families, from free activities and early learning for children right through to financial advice and wellbeing support for mums, dads and carers.

“Family hubs are making life easy by putting it all in one place – providing the support families need, in the ways they need it.

“The hubs are growing rapidly and I know that many families are already feeling the benefit.”

The family hubs have been funded by the Department for Education and Department of Health and Social Care.
