Fire at Westminster townhouse

Twelve fire engines and about 80 firefighters were called to a flat fire in Eaton Place in Westminster yesterday morning.

Firefighters tackled the fire at a five-storey residential town house, where all of the roof, part of a flat on the third and part of a flat on the fourth floor were destroyed by the fire.

The brigade’s control office received 26 calls about the fire.

The brigade was called shortly after 11.40am and the fire was under control shortly after 2.30pm.

Fire crews from Clapham, Dowgate, Soho, Hammersmith and other surrounding fire stations attended the scene.

The cause of the fire will be investigated.
