First images released of two men police are looking for after Petts Wood stabbing

Police have released images of two men they are looking for after the fatal stabbing of a teenager in Petts Wood last week.

The images were taken after the attack on Max Moy Wheatley, 19, on September 20, at around 2.30pm.

An investigation was launched after Mr Wheatley, 19, from Orpington, died from a stab wound to the heart in Jubilee Country Park, close to Tent Peg Lane in Petts Wood, Bromley.

Police, the London Ambulance Service and the Kent Air Ambulance attended, but Mr Wheatley died at the scene.

A post-mortem examination held on Friday gave the cause of death as a stab wound to the heart.

No arrests have been made at this stage and enquiries continue. The Met have said Mr Wheatley’s family continue to be supported by specialist officers.

Detective Chief Inspector Laura Semple, investigating, said: “Our investigation has already made good progress in piecing together the events that led to the attack on Max and we are now in a position to ask the public for their help in identifying these two men.
“Do you recognise them?

“If so, please get in contact with my team. Your information will be treated with the utmost sensitivity.

“However, if you’re not confident speaking to police you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. They will not ask for your identity.”

As well as appealing for information to identify the two men, police also want to hear from anyone who may have captured events on camera or taken images that could assist their investigation.

There is a dedicated online portal – https://mipp.police.uk/operation/01MPS23V71-PO1 – where footage and pictures can be uploaded.
