Four-year-old ‘lord of litter’ wins award for volunteer work

A four-year-old boy dubbed the “lord of litter” has won an award for his volunteering work cleaning up the streets of Catford.

Isaac Thompson goes litter picking with his mum, Jade Thompson, three times a week to help keep the neighbouring streets clean and tidy.

He has been awarded with a Green Champion award by Councillor Louise Krupski, cabinet member for environment and climate action at Lewisham council.

Jade said: “Isaac doesn’t like it when people throw rubbish on the floor – he says it makes the earth sad.

“I hope people think twice now about throwing rubbish on the floor, knowing it might be a four-year-old picking it up.”

Presenting Isaac with his award, Cllr Krupski said: “Isaac is an example to us all – it’s fantastic to see that children in Lewisham are so passionate about looking after our environment and I am delighted that we can celebrate Isaac’s contribution to keeping Lewisham clean and tidy with this award.”
