Greenwich’s light show set to Sparkle in the Park once more
From November 28 to December 1 (4.30-9pm) Charlton Park, House and Gardens will be transformed into an enchanted winter wonderland, co-created with Royal Greenwich residents, for people to enjoy.
Visitors can explore the stunning light installations, the Christmas market, a fun fair and enjoy pop up performances from local schools and community choirs.
Visitors won’t need a ticket or to pre-book to enter this year’s event. But those coming along may have to be patient and be prepared to queue for entry at busy times, particularly on Saturday evening.
A council spokesman said: “Don’t miss the most magical event of the year.
“We’re proud to bring our residents another year of free, inclusive and accessible festive fun at a time when our communities continue to be affected by the rising cost of living.
“By strengthening partnerships between local arts and community organisations, our much-loved festive events support the borough’s ambitious new culture strategy.
“Get the dates in your diaries and follow our social media and WhatsApp channels for further announcements.”
As in previous years, on Sunday, December 1, there will be a quiet hour from 4.30-5.30pm, for children and adults with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and sensory sensitivities.
During the quiet hour, there will be reduced noise, no flashing lights, a reduced capacity on site and sensory appropriate entertainment.
In addition to Sparkle in the Park, Charlton House and Gardens will also be running their own festive activities inside the historic property. Stay tuned for their Christmas programme announcements at www.greenwichheritage.org/events/
The Christmas spirit will also take over town centres with local stalls, activities and light switch on events in Eltham on Saturday, November 16, and Woolwich on Saturday, November 23, both from 12 noon to 6pm.
Greenwich Market and the Old Royal Naval College’s annual Lantern Parade and Light Switch-On will take place between 4pm-6pm on Wednesday, November 20, in Greenwich Town Centre. Peabody will also host their annual Christmas event in Thamesmead.
