Gun, knives and drugs found in Stockwell police raid

By Rafi Mauro-Benady

A gun, six knives, and hard drugs were found last week following a police raid at an address in a block of flats.

Two men, aged 43 and 47 were arrested in Hampson Way, Stockwell, on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, and possession of a bladed article.

Detectives from the Specialist Crime Command unit executed a firearms warrant the flat last Monday (January 18) where they found the self-loading handgun with three bullets inside, plus the knives with blade lengths ranging from 15 to 19 inches.

Officers also found 2.12grams of crack cocaine (35 packages) with 1.51grams of heroin (27 packages).

The Browning pistol was made safe and has been sent off for testing.

The two men have since been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

Detective Sergeant Phil Holt from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command said: “This warrant resulted in a number of dangerous weapons being taken off the streets of London as well as a large amount of Class A drugs.

“This is yet another example of the inextricable link between drugs and violence.”
