Huge vintage pop-up sale returns for Second Hand September

Ahead of Second Hand September, a huge vintage sale where clothes are sold by weight is preparing nine tonnes of handpicked vintage items for its pop-up next month.

Worth the Weight will return to Copeland Park and Bussey Building in Copeland Road, Peckham, on September 3.

Second Hand September is an initiative started in 2019 by Oxfam as a way to encourage people to reuse, recycle and reduce waste.

Since then thousands of people have used the campaign to revamp their wardrobe in a sustainable way.

There will be 60 rails of clothing, where shoppers can pick and mix from the best Denim, Sports, Ladies fashion, Men’s fashion, Outerwear and accessories and pay on the scales at the end.

It costs £20 per kilo, with prices starting as little as £1 and all heavy items capped at £20. So if you find any item weighing 1 kilo or more you only pay a maximum of £20.

Worth the Weight has held a number of pop up kilo sales at Copeland Park and Bussey Building over the past few years.

Chris Davies, Worth The Weight organiser, said: “We’re excited to be coming back to Peckham as we know that the area is full of eco-conscious fashion lovers.”
