Just Stop Oil protester charged for intent to ‘lock on’

A man has been charged for possession of items that could cause criminal damage and with intent to “lock on”.

Oliver Rock, 42, of Red Post Hill in Dulwich, was charged on Thursday with “having articles with intent to cause criminal damage (s3 Criminal Damage Act 1971) and being equipped to lock on (s2 Public Order Act 2023)”, said the Met.

The Met said Mr Rock was arrested on Wednesday but would not provide a time for the arrest or a location.

He is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court today.

Just Stop Oil supporters are disrupting roads in London during their thirteenth week of continuous resistance against new oil, gas and coal licences.

On Thursday in Elephant and Castle, a Just Stop Oil march was kettled by a group of counter-protestors wearing t-shirts emblazoned with “Just Stop Pissing Everyone Off”.

Since the Just Stop Oil campaign launched in February 2022, there have been more than 2,350 arrests and 138 people have spent time in prison.
