Lambeth student to study medicine at Cambridge University after being inspired by the pandemic

A teenager from Lambeth has been offered a place at Cambridge University to study medicine after being inspired to become a doctor during the pandemic.

Tawab Abdul from Lambeth Academy will be attending Homerton College at Cambridge.

Lola Bewley de Castro from the same school will also be pursuing her dream of being a doctor after securing a place to study medicine at the University of Leeds.

Other students at the school will be attending top universities after achieving high grades.

Matheus Soffiati will be heading to Imperial College London to study Physics.

Mariam Kyeremeh and Ikram Abdalla have both secured places at King’s College London, with Ikram who has gained a highly competitive place on the Children’s Nursing course.

Alic Karim, who will be starting a degree in Engineering at University College London and Fatoumatah Bah, Jerome Wright, Javaine Spencer and David Medina, who are all going to Queen Mary University of London to study Business.

It is gratifying to see this ethos reflected in the range and high quality of our Year 13s’ university offers this year, from medicine at Cambridge to the Leeds Conservatoire.

This is true every year, but has never been more important than over the past 18 months. I know they will all want to join me in wishing our Year 13s the best as they start university and look forward to hearing about all their successes to come.”
