London Overground strike: TfL reminds travellers to check before they travel
London Overground drivers will strike this Saturday over a pay dispute that will shut the service across the entire network on that day.
There will also be no Night Overground services on Saturday evening.
Customers travelling on Sunday morning are advised a good service is expected on the London Overground by midday.
If travelling before midday, TfL has advised customers to plan ahead and check before they travel.
ASLEF, the train drivers’ union, announced the one-day strike after a breakdown in talks over a pay offer to help members keep pace with the increase in the cost of living.
“Strikes are always the last resort,” said Mick Whelan, general secretary of ASLEF.
“We don’t want to inconvenience passengers – our friends and families use public transport, too – and we don’t want to lose money by going on strike, but we’ve been forced into this position by the companies, who say they have been driven to this by the Tory Government.”
All other TfL modes of transport will run as normal, but are expected to be much busier than normal as customers seek alternative routes.
Further strikes by the RMT are also planned for Friday, August 19 on London Underground and London Overground services.
National rail strikes on August 18 and 20 will affect the rail network, including London Overground, London Underground and Elizabeth Line services.
Strike action by Unite will also affect some bus services on August 19 and 20.
