Macmillan Cancer Support’s Mobile Information Team are out and about in Putney today

If you have a question about cancer, Macmillan Cancer Support’s Mobile Information Team will be out in force to give you answers.

They are encouraging people to be aware of the signs and symptoms of the disease during Lung Cancer Awareness Month this month.

Macmillan is bringing its free cancer information and support mobile service to Putney today.

Melissa Foley, a Macmillan Lung Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist working at Tooting’s St George’s Hospital, said: “Thankfully lung cancer survival rates are improving, but we know that the most effective way of combatting it is through stopping smoking and earlier diagnosis.

“The Macmillan Mobile Information Service provides invaluable advice and support at a local level, while raising awareness of lung cancer and many other cancer-related issues.”

Lung cancer is common in men and women, with about 46,400 cases diagnosed every year. Smoking cigarettes is the main cause of lung cancer, but non-smokers get it, too.

More than four in 10 people who are diagnosed with lung cancer in the UK are aged 75 and over.

They will be at St Mary’s Church Courtyard, Putney High Street, SW15 1SZ, today from 10am to 3pm.
