A man who died after a suspected knife fight has been named as 34-year-old Omar Smith.

Police were called just before midnight on Friday to an alleged fight in a chicken shop in Downham Way, Grove Park, Lewisham where they found two men suffering stab and head injuries.

Mr Smith, from Lewisham, died in hospital on Saturday but the post-mortem, held on Sunday, could not determine the cause of death, with further tests needed.

The Met said Omar Smith was not a worker at the chicken shop.

One resident, who lives opposite the chicken shop and wished to remain anonymous, said there was a cordon around the Perfect Peri Peri and Pizza takeaway shop.

The second man injured, aged 51, was released from hospital following treatment and was arrested on suspicion of GBH.

Two other men, aged 40 and 46, were arrested at the scene on suspicion of GBH.

All three were arrested on suspicion of murder and taken to South London police stations.

The 40-year-old has now been released under investigation and the other two men have been released on bail to a date in mid-October.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call police on 101 quoting CAD 9560/Sep13.
