Man dies in hospital after being stabbed in Greenwich

A murder investigation has been launched in Greenwich after a man died in hospital after being stabbed.

At around 5pm on Tuesday, February 8 police were called to reports of a stabbing in Lionel Road, Eltham.

Police and paramedics went to the scene where they found a man, believed to be in his early 20s, with stab wounds.

He was treated at the scene and taken to an East London hospital.

He was pronounced dead a short time later.

His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

Homicide detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command have been informed and are leading the investigation.

At this early stage there have been no arrests but an investigation is under way.

A crime scene is in place at the scene of the incident and is likely to remain so for some time.
