Man dies in Lewisham house fire

A man has died following a house fire Lewisham.

The London Fire Brigade were called to Waite Davies Road in Lee on Saturday evening.

The whole of a two-storey semi-detached property was badly damaged by the blaze. A man was found by firefighters inside the house. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The brigade was called at around 7.50pm and the fire was under control by around 9.15pm.

Six fire engines and about 40 firefighters from Lee Green, Lewisham, Eltham, Bromley, East Greenwich and Forest Hill fire stations were at the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
