Man who boasted about reckless driving jailed for killing 19-year-old in road traffic collision in Deptford

A man who boasted about reckless driving has now been jailed for killing a 19-year-old girl in a road traffic collision.
Laura Ann Keyes was hit by a car in Creek Road at the junction with Deptford Church Street on November 30, 2017. She was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
The driver of the car, Abdul Sujac, 22, was jailed at Southwark Crown Court on Friday October 19 having plead guilty to death by dangerous driving at an earlier hearing.
The Court heard that Sujac of Sunrise Close, Stratford, was a habitual dangerous driver who would brazenly record clips of his exploits with over 4000 clips being recovered from his phone.
In one video, posted two days after being convicted for another offence, he posted a caption stating ‘nine points ain’t gonna stop me driving’ in reference to being penalised for careless driving near the Westfield Shopping where he struck a pedestrian.
Sujac, who was driving the black BMW, stopped at the scene on November 30 and was arrested on suspicion of death by dangerous driving.
He was taken to a south London police station and then bailed before subsequently being charged by postal requisition in June 2018.
Investigating officer detective sergeant Richard Budd, of the serious collision investigation unit said: “The evening that Laura died she had been enjoying a night out with her friends and enjoying her life before it was tragically cut short in the most cruel and sudden of circumstances.
“Sujac’s senseless and irresponsible actions have robbed Laura’s family of a person who by all accounts was a well-loved and well-liked young woman who had the rest of her life to look forward to.
“Sujac will now have a substantial custodial sentence to reflect on his actions. I hope this will act as a reminder to other motorists to drive safely and responsibly so as to spare anyone else the devastation that Laura’s family have been caused.”
He was sentenced to six years and three months in prison and will be disqualified from driving for five years.
