Motorcycle fatality at Biggin Hill leads to Met appeal

The Met are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision in Biggin Hill.

Shortly before midnight yesterday (Sunday), an off-duty police officer came across a motorbike that had been involved in a crash in Main Road, Biggin Hill.

Two males, both teenagers, were provided with first aid prior to the arrival of London Ambulance Service.

Despite the efforts of emergency services, one of the males, aged 17, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. His family have been informed and will be supported by specialist officers.

A second male was taken to hospital, where his condition was assessed as not life-threatening. He has been arrested in connection with the investigation and taken to a south London police station.

Enquires continue to establish the full circumstances of the incident. The Met’s investigation is led by officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit based at Catford.

Detectives believe that the motorbike may have been in close proximity to a car around the time of the collision, but that car did not stop at the scene. They are not specifying what it may have struck to cause the rider to lose control.

Enquires are ongoing to locate that vehicle and its occupant or occupants and to establish whether it played any part in the collision.

Any witnesses are asked to call police on 101 and quote reference 8152/10JUN24. To remain anonymous, please contact Crimestoppers.
