Murder investigation launched after man, 24, killed in triple stabbing

A murder investigation has been launched after a triple stabbing killed one man and hospitalised two others in the early hours yesterday morning.

Police were called at around 4am to reports of a large group fighting with knives in Wandsworth Road, Clapham.

Officers and London Ambulance Service (LAS) crews found three people suffering from stab wound injuries.

Despite the best efforts of the emergency services, a 24-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers have informed his next of kin who are being supported by specialist officers.

Formal identification has not yet taken place and a post-mortem examination will be held in due course, police said.

Two other victims – both also aged in their 20s – were taken to hospital for treatment. One remains in hospital with serious injuries and the other was treated for injuries that were not deemed to be life-threatening.

Police are appealing to the public for any information, CCTV or dashcam footage, which may aid their investigation.

Chief Superintendent Seb Adjei-Addoh, who is in charge of policing in Lambeth, said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the young man who has lost his life in the most tragic of circumstances.

“I know the local community will be shocked by these events. You can expect to see officers in the area and I would encourage anyone with concerns, or information, to please speak with them.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 quoting CAD 1169/29Sep. Alternatively you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or visit crimestoppers-uk.org.
