Murder investigation launched after man stabbed to death in Peckham

A murder investigation is under way after a man was stabbed to death in the early hours of this morning.

The Met said it was called around 1.30am to Southampton Way, near to the junction of Coleman Road, following reports that a man had been stabbed.

On arrival, officers located a man, aged in his 40s, suffering with stab injuries. Despite treatment from medical professionals, the man sadly died at the scene.

His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

A statement from the Met said: “One man, aged in his 20s was arrested nearby on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody where he will be questioned. Enquiries are ongoing.

“Any witnesses or anyone who can assist the investigation are asked to call 101 or tweet @MetCC quoting CAD 494/16Jun. To remain anonymous contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
