Music lovers will flock to Crystal Palace Park this summer as festivals return.

Wireless Festival is set to take place in the park from September 10-12.

Run by Festival Republic, the first release of tickets have already sold out.

And while Covid-19 vaccinations won’t be mandatory, those who have not been vaccinated will be tested for coronavirus before entering the festival.

The festival previously took place in Finsbury Park and a line-up has still not been confirmed.

The Crystal Palace Park Trust said: “As well as helping the Park regain its reputation as a world-class venue, the festival will assure Crystal Palace Park Trust a significant revenue in support of community projects, and the renewal and development of the ecological, cultural, recreational and heritage offer of the Park, for the benefit of everyone.”

It is not the only festival coming to the South London park in 2021.

Between August 5-13, 12 headline performances will come to South Facing Festival.

It will be the inaugural open-air concert series that will help finance the restoration of the striking stage known locally as the ‘rusty laptop’.

The iconic venue once hosted the likes of Pink Floyd and Bob Marley but has fallen into disrepair in recent years.

Performances at South Facing Festival will include Dizzee Rascal, The Streets, Supergrass, Max Richter and the English National Opera (ENO).

Festival director, Marcus Weedon, said: “After what’s been an extremely difficult 12 months for the live music industry, we can’t wait to put on a fantastic series of events that people can really get excited about.

“We’re all working incredibly hard to make sure South Facing is a fitting return to glory for the Crystal Palace Bowl.”

A crowdfunding campaign to fund restoration to the stage has already made more than the £53,000 target with 47 days left.
